VISION LOSS FROM DERMA FILLER INJECTION

As more and more people seek cosmetic procedures in the form of derma fillers, there are increasing reports of partial or permanent vision loss due to vascular occlusion.

Ask your doctor about the risks, even though they are low, about this possible side effect.

Steamboat Kena Building 2019

The Steamboat Kena building replaced the structure destroyed by a fire on Memorial weekend of 2014; completion was in October of 2019 after several delays due to debris removal, insurance matters and a settlement following construction damage to the north neighbor’s structure.  The original two story structure was built in 1922.

The building name originates from the legendary iconic Wyoming bucking horse Steamboat and the Hawaiian term Kena which means rising from the ashes. The Steamboat logo greets you in the inside entryway.

The cowboy spirit of picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and starting all over again following a setback inspired the rebuild.

Old Main, designed by the famous architect Fredrick Hale, is located at the University of Wyoming and was the architectural inspiration for Steamboat Kena. The building partners are graduates of UW.  Old Main, the first building at the University of Wyoming, needed to be a monumental structure and signify importance to those passing by. It was built in the Romanesque Revival architectural style. Heavy stone construction, the axial nature, the use of symmetry, the use of arch and the rectangular footprint displayed at Old Main are strong characters of Romanesque construction.  The modern stonework construction of Steamboat Kena mimics the sandstone of Old Main, that was quarried east of Laramie and near Rawlins. In the spirit of the grand structure of Old Main, the rough textured body of Steamboat Kena represents the developing frontier while the minimal use of classical decoration represents the emerging sophistication of Wyoming.  Sophisticated Wyoming and the arrival of technology is seen inside.

Legend states that at or near this building was the landmark last vigilante lynching in the State of Wyoming. A plaque on the south side of the building designates the site.

We are a proud member of the downtown Laramie community and support their goal of historical preservation. We welcome your visit to the Steamboat Kena building.

Laramie Vision Clinic Leases Steamboat Kena Building 2019

The Laramie Vision Clinic is the tenant of the Steamboat Kena building. We are proud to carry the historical nature of the building inside with what we coin "Western chic" decorations.

The clinic originated in 2012 and was destroyed by a fire on Memorial weekend of 2014.  Operations continued down the street at the Jensen Building during the five years it has taken to replace the building.

The clinic brings state of the art technology in medical eye and vision instrumentation, the most advanced contact lenses and eyeglass lenses and fashion forward eyeglass frames.

We offer more than family eye care. Our doctors and staff are proud to provide eye care for eye emergencies and eye injuries 24 hours a day, dry eyes, eye allergies and care for patients who have had laser eye procedures and invasive eye surgeries.

Laramie Vision Clinic provides advanced safe and accessible eye care to the residents of Laramie and the surrounding communities.

Please feel free to look around knowing that this is a medical clinic with patient confidentiality being paramount.

LARAMIE VISION CLINIC DESIGN 2019

Laramie Vision Clinic was designed with the dream in mid of the owners to integrate into the downtown Laramie environment with a western chic feel and standard of care instrumentation, services and products.

The space was transformed after a fire, giving me the opportunity to put my footprint design in place.

Color and appointments blend well into the local feel with wall texture and doors finishing the product.

Ceiling design with eyeball chandeliers backup by “color correct” LED lighting is inviting in the entry that also serves the retail space.  The owners concerns of parking were addressed with nearly 100 off street parking spots.

Design of the lot allows for expansion inside and to the south.

The project was challenging and rewarding to deliver excellence to my clients!
